Things
Just a very quick note. Play went well on Saturday - none of us missed a line and the energy level was high. Better than I expected, especially after Wednesday, when I realised I was going to have to (in some ways) carry the piece. And afterward, several audience members (whom I didn't know) spontaneously said to me, 'well done'. Which I thought was really nice.
A strange thing happened during the performance - and it happened in the second tech rehearsal too - I looked at the guy playing my boyfriend, really looked him in the eyes, and suddenly I felt like I was my character and he was his character and we were actually having that conversation. Never happened to me before. Is that what's called acting, Dale?
Sad it's all over now though. It's been going on in one way or another since January, so leaves a bit of a hole.
Have the possibility of having another play workshopped through the theatre in Plymouth - Nick, the playwright who was involved in Pen and Trough (what the play project we've just finished was called) is having a play put on down there, and his director came to our plays and liked my writing. I have to send him something by the end of the week, though...
On another note, I went today to a parents' meeting at Amelia' s school-to-be. We had another tour and met some of the staff, and also got information about how things will work in September. They really are lovely people and very focussed on the children. I came away feeling we'd made the right choice.
Don't know what's happening with the comments. I made one, and it said it had been sent off for approval... Bob, does that mean it goes to you? Nothing appeared in my e-mail.
All for now...
