Here I am, posting

Yes, I know it's not June. Though the daffodils around here have suddenly burst into flower in their hundreds. The crocuses were disappointing this year though. Not enough sun to make them open up.

At lease I don't live in Newfoundland, where they've had so much snow lately they're suffering from 'snow rage'. Apparently the police in St. John's are getting 10 calls a day about 'snow-related incidents'. Wow.

My Mum and Dad will soon be on their way back from Mexico. Lucky them. I bet it was warm and sunny down there.

Let me tell you about an interesting thing I'm involved with - a playwrighting project organised by a local community theatre company (but with links to a local professional theatre). The brief is to write a 15-minute play on the theme of agriculture, rural life, or the environment. The actual theatre is closed for renovations, so the plays will be put on in the cattle sale ring of the local livestock auction centre. We've seen the space and it's pretty interesting. 18 plays will be put on and there are about 25 people in the group, so I don't know yet if mine will be one of them. I've completed a draft, and I sent half of it to the course leader and he liked it, so maybe it will.

Drove to Plymouth with a friend last night to see a play - the writing course leader recommended we see it because it's by a local playwright and is about a farming family. It wasn't the greatest play I've ever seen. Well acted and produced, but the story wasn't that strong and the dialogue was a bit flat - the characters spent a lot of time asking each other,'You all right?', telling each other to, 'Leave it!' and saying, 'Why?' All in thick Somerset-style accents. Not a patch on Tarragon, Lynda.

Oh, and Gong Xi Fa Cai, by the way. Chinese New Year started last Sunday. We had Mandarin playgroup as usual and went to Plymouth for a celebration by the local Chinese community.

Should post but...

...still don't feel like it. So here's a photo of a daffodil somewhere in Devon. I didn't take it, but I've seen plenty in bloom. We're paying for the mild weather with plenty of rain though.

Just to let you know, I took off the YouTube video as it was only an experiment and wasn't very interesting. But thanks, Bob, for the technical advice - I'll keep it in mind if I do it again.

We've all been ill - flu, or sinus infections, and even a nasty stomach bug. Plus one of the cats got into a fight again and got bitten and then got an abcess and had to be rushed off to the vet. It's that time of the year again when life feels like a big dark pit. Even though the days are getting lighter. Just means I wake up earlier in the morning and have plenty of time to lie in bed and think about what a disaster my life is.

Will write more when feeling a bit more cheerful. So, probably in about June.
