awards & competitions

I am listed in the current edition of Canadian Who’s Who, published by the University of Toronto Press.

My nonfiction piece “Reflections” was named to the final shortlist of six for the prestigious Maclean Hunter Endowment Award for Literary Nonfiction, 2002. The award is administered by PRISM International literary magazine, which is affiliated with the respected creative writing program at the University of British Columbia.

I was a finalist in the Emerging Literary Artist category of the 2002 Mississauga Arts Awards. Awards were presented to locally-based emerging and established artists in five categories: music, literary, performing arts individual, performing arts group, and new media.

Two of my short stories have won awards:

• “The End of the Game” won first prize in the adult category of the Mississauga Library System’s Annual Writing Contest.
